FAQ
-
What are your core values? My operation runs on three non-negotiables: Radical Reliability (I show up, I follow through, no excuses), Compassion Without Compromise (your pet's well-being is always paramount, no cutting corners), and No BS (direct talk, clear expectations, effective solutions).

Why are you The Grown Ass Pet Sitter?Honestly, the name 'The Grown Ass Pet Sitter' cracks me up. If you've got an offbeat sense of humor too, we're probably already a good fit. And yes, I am a literal grown ass adult. As in born in the wee early 1970's. I clearly remember a rotary phone and TVs without remotes. In all those long years since, I figured out how to adult fairly successfully. With insurance and everything. But finally and most importantly, I love the animals. All of them. The furred and feathered and scaled. They fill me with so much joy. And since they do, I figured my 'later in life' career should bring me more of that happiness. So, here's to more joy, and less BS.
-
Are you insured? You bet your ass I am. I carry comprehensive business insurance, including general liability and animal bailee insurance, to protect both your home and your pets while they're in my care. Because a grown-up covers their bases.
-
Do you require an on-site lockbox or smart lock for entry? For your peace of mind and my radical reliability, all clients are required to provide a secure on-site entry method. This means either a high-quality, coded lockbox (my preferred method – simple, secure, no tech fuss) or secure access via a smart lock system. For smart locks, I kindly request a physical key backup be stored in a lockbox on-site, just in case technology decides to act up. This ensures I can always get to your beloved beasts, no matter what, and your home remains secure.
-
How far in advance should I book your services? As a solo operation, my schedule fills up quickly. To ensure I'm available for your preferred dates, especially for overnights or during holidays, I strongly recommend booking as far in advance as possible. Last-minute inquiries for "Emergency Visits" are handled on a case-by-case basis.
-
What areas of Charlotte do you serve?I serve all of Charlotte to Concord to Cornelius...most anywhere within an hour of west Charlotte. HOWEVER...the one thing I will charge extra for is excessive travel. If you're within a 1/2 hour drive - no fee. Out side of that you'll get hit with a travel fee. Sorry...my time is worth a lot to me and I can't just spend it on the road with nothing to show for it. BUT! If you can loop in a few (3+) neighbors for the same time I'll go a head and waive that fee as I'll be able to get more work done for the same trip. Make sense?
-
Do you offer a meet-and-greet? Is it free?Absolutely, a mandatory meet-and-greet in your home is part of the process. It's crucial for me to meet your pets, understand their routines, and for you to feel comfortable with me. The initial consultation is part of my booking process.
-
What do you do in case of a pet emergency?I follow a strict emergency protocol, which is reviewed during our meet-and-greet. This includes immediate contact with you, your designated emergency contact, and transporting your pet to your specified veterinarian or the nearest emergency vet clinic, as authorized by your signed veterinary release form.
-
How will I get updates about my pet? You'll receive regular updates via text or email with photos and videos of your happy beast(s). I keep my phone tucked away unless I'm capturing proof of joy, so you know they're getting my undivided attention.
-
What if my pet has special needs or requires medication? That's why I'm a grown ass pet sitter. I have extensive experience with various needs and administering medications (oral, injections). This will all be thoroughly discussed and documented during our meet-and-greet. If I can't confidently meet your pet's specific medical needs, I'll be upfront about it. And no, I'm not charging you extra for this.
-
Do you offer a neighborhood/group discount? If I'm already booked for other services on your street or in your immediate vicinity on the same day, we all win. Talk to your neighbors, get us clustered, and we can discuss a shared efficiency bonus. More pets, less driving, smarter care. Discounts of $3-10 per service.
